Installing Windows XP

1- Now you have set the drive as the first boot device, insert the XP installation disk in your CD drive and reboot the computer. If you see the message asking to repair the existing installation, to perform a new installation or to quit, press enter key to begin a new installation.

2 - Then press F8 key to accept the user license agreement. Otherwise you won’t be able to go to the next step.

3- Because you have a new hard drive that you haven’t partitioned yet, you’ll have to choose between two available installations options shown by Windows.

4- The next screen shows you two file systems, FAT32 or NTFS to format your hard drive. If you intend to install two or more operating systems on the computer choose FAT32 option. For a simple usage the NTFS is your best option. Press enter to format the partition.

5- It is important at this step that you select your region and your language. This will allow Windows supplying your time zone and your keyboard layout.

6- Enter your XP product key code exactly as it is shown on the back of the CD, and then click next.

7- At this step you can choose to give a name to your PC or not. However it’s necessary if you plan to do a network system. You should then have an Admin password to control the network. Finally you have to choose your network settings options.

Now you don’t have to do anything else than let the installation procedure closing stages.

8- When you finally see the XP screen, install drivers for sound and video and all the peripheral components installed in your complete system. You’ll be able, after that, to clean install all your programs on the computer.
