Are there any utilities for the flopy disk drive nowadays?

Once upon a time the flopy disk drive! Ah this time has been completed when this device had high importance in the computer function.

It was all the more expensive that it was the only available data storage we used to read from and write data on.

You are surely wondering if you need one today to build own computer system? Not really but maybe one day you could have to use one.

And because it is so cheap today, I’ll recommend having it just in case you don’t have any other possibility.

Even if the invention of hard disk, CD-Rom and certainly DVD, has reduced almost totally the role of the floppy disk drive, there are still some uses you can do with the 3.5 inch 1.44 MB floppy.

To bring work home or to have someone confidential information you can use a floppy disk. A further boon is that you can read and write on it many times as well as a CD-RW.

Remember that there are still many computers without CD-writer unless you choose to have one to upgrade or when you’re building yours.

The main benefits of having a floppy disk drive is because it allows you to undo disks for system utilities or even to create emergency boot disks for virus removal software.

The choice is yours! For the same purpose you are free to use an internal or an external floppy drive.

If you opt for the external, be sure you have the one with the right connector according to your motherboard. The external floppy drive can use a serial port or a USB port, all available on your computer.

Anyway, external or internal, it pays sometimes to have in your computer a flopy disk drive.
