Dual Core Processors.
What is dual core processors
technology?
Dual core processors have been introduced in the world of computer for better performance.
In the area of processors, AMD and Intel have been constantly competing with each other.
At the same time they were promising reasonable
prices to consumers seeking for the best components for their computers.
After the introduction of dual-core processors some
time ago the competition is for the better chip with the dual core processors technology.
The competition for single-core processor has ended
without an actual winner.
Intel has clocked higher, but couldn’t reach the
speeds which AMD managed at lower clock speeds.
The major difference between them has been that they
have been appropriate for specific purposes.
AMD have been better in the gaming. Their lower clocked chips could be overclocked to the same speeds as their best
models.
Intel has held the leadership for general
performance and office work.
Since the clocking of the chips any higher turned to
be almost technically impossible, the next stage involved the adding of another core.
However, the old programs have not been created for
dual-core processors. They could use only one core on one CPU. With multiple processor computers the
circuitry had to divide tasks among the processors and share cache.
Dual-core processors are two CPU processors in one.
One of the main advantages is that it fits in a single computer motherboard. With dual-core
processors tasks have to go to two places. Single threads are divided between the cores, i.e. each programs is forwarded to a
core.
Gaming, however, cannot take advantage of
dual-core processor chips. For it no increase in speed can be achieved since games have not been programmed for dual-core processors. The nature
of the games is such and the number crunching needed for intense graphics cannot be divided among the multiple cores.
The dual-core processor technology for desktop computers was presented by AMD first. They have both overtaken Intel and surprised people. The good position
of AMD on the market was due to a great extent to their reasonable prices. The new dual-core processors, however, were quite costly, which was
not well accepted by their consumers.
What is more, the dual-core processors that Intel
introduced had exceptionally well comparative prices. Their most expensive dual-core processor was cheaper than AMD’s cheapest one. This,
of course, gave the lead to Intel and took AMD fans aback.
AMD succeeded in offering a cheaper model to compete
with Intel ones. Intel, however, remains the leader in this sector.
Since the technology is new, in comparison it
cannot be definitely said who is faster. Both promise better performance, but it will take time to see who will be the winner in this competition
since the operating systems are not completely oriented towards this fairly new
technology.
Perhaps, for the time being it is preferable to rely
on technologies that have already been settled and wait and see how best prices will be affected and how other corresponding technologies will
develop.
Therefore if you are looking for the next performing
computer, your best choice should be for dual core processors technology.
