Guide to remove cover and prepare the Computer
case
The computer case is the box designed to receive all your internal devices in the
building procedure.
To install these different components you should remove the cover and prepare the system case before adding any
parts.
This step is fundamental, first because of the variety of cases available in the market. You could encounter surprising
difficulties to open some types.
Then it is important that you examine potential damage and clean the case, ordinarily with a compressed air, if it contains any
dust.
Removing the computer
case cover
All you need to remove the cover is a Phillips screwdriver. For some models it won’t be necessary. Pay attention not to broke the
case and void its warranty. In that case you’ll only have to order a new one.
In some conventional desktop and tower cases you’ll find the screws on the back along the edge. Using the screwdriver, you’ll easily remove
these three, sometimes six, screws and remove the cover. For a tower pull back gently the top cover and with the tower simply push it
forward.
In other cases you’ll locate the screws on the front and it could be very difficult for you to remove their cover. You may find
the screws after lifting out the small plastic doors on the sides of your computer case. Look at the back if there are not any additional screws
to loose.
Maybe your case only has a single screw. Look at the top and the bottom of the case, lose the screw and from the front, slide off
the cover or push it forward to remove it.
Maybe your case comes with a screwless design. Then you’ll need some muscle to pull off the cover while holding the front of the
PC case. You can even find a similar case where you’ll need to remove the case simply by sliding the
sides off.
Finally don’t forget to put the screws in a quiet place to use them after installing your parts.
Preparing the case
Use a compressed air to blow out dust accumulated inside the computer case. It’s obviously necessary to prepare a clean area to
install your different components.
With the case you should find some accessories such as LEDS, extra fan or front panel switches. Install the fans on the front and
the rear vent to draw air unto the case.
If you have bought the case with a PSU power supply, ensure that the cables do not have any damage before supplying your
devices.
Now you are ready to go to the next step and read an overview of the motherboard function before installing it in your computer
case.
